The mind of Alexander

I am doing something very different today. This is a book about a gentleman named Alexander who dies in a Virtual reality headset. He is then transported to the past where he decides to right the wrongs he committed. This book is called “MMORPG : Rise of the Interstellar God”. it is a Sci-fi novel based in the year 2100. The earth is nearly completely ruined. almost all of the planet is uninhabitable, and most of the worlds average people live in squalor in major hubs around key pieces of land. The rich people live either in space, on the moon, or on mars. Alex is very poor and his family is barely able to scrape by. They work jobs that are slowly killing them. Alex’s mother is dying of cancer of the brain. His father’s body is barely able to keep up with his job. Thankfully Alex has insider knowledge about the game due to his past life. This books is absolutely incredible, and He really doe try to keep them alive through his exploits. This is an amazing book and unfortunately The author remains anonymous, but you can find plenty of great books like this at webnovel.com Now I admit that some of the books are odd, and comics are mixed in with the selection. I mostly ignore them because they don’t have the same quality or depth that I am looking for. Happy hunting readers!

The mind of Doctor Seuss

I can’t believe I haven’t done this beforehand. Doctor Seuss is one of
(if not) the greatest child authors in the world. his books are fun and often educational, and encourage healthy growth to a child. I loved his books, and the movies they have made from his books are amazing. From Horton hears a who to The Lorax, and even the unpopular live adaptation. His books help with counting, deriving colors, imagination, and even trying new things (even if your skeptical). Doctor Seuss is unfortunately no longer with us, but He lived a happy life and His books will go on to help us raise children for years to come. In two weeks I will be on hiatus do to christmas break, but I can’t wait to write to you all later. Happy christmas, and have a happy new year!

The mind of Rick Yancey

Rick Yancey is a very popular book artist who writes young adult novels. I am currently reading his best seller The 5th Wave which is a wonderful book about how aliens have infested other humans and are seeking to kill them off so that the “Others” can survive. we follow a number of characters. such as Benjamin Parish or Cassiopeia sullivan, and we even follow Cassie’s younger brother , Sammy, for a bit. Cassie is a girl who originally had a crush on ben, and lived a normal high school girls life. Then the aliens come up, and release a deadly virus that kills 99% of all humanity. the virus claims Cassie’s mother, and nearly takes her brother. Her camp gets wiped out and she travels alone for a few months. Benjamin lost his father and mother to the virus, but he in his own foolish naivete starves his sisters. He is induced into the most secure military program in order to fight back against the aliens. Sammy is 5 years old, and he is taken away by soldiers in order to also become induce to the military, but not before the virus nearly claims him. the commanding officer claims that the humans to others ratio is 3:1 which is horrifying to think that 1\4 of everyone you know was going to try and kill you at some point. I thinks its horrible to put children through such harsh training, but with the last remnants of humanity being children you can’t do much else. It exciting that this series is a trilogy that leaves little to be desired. I can’t wait to read the rest of the trilogy.

The Mind of Suzanne Collins

The great Suzanne Collins is responsible for all of the hungers games and the Gregor series. Her books on the Hunger Games speak of the societal collapse of the world. The sea levels have risen and most of the world is uninhabitable, but the wealthy few have created a utopia off of the backs of others. In america there were 13 total districts, the thirteenth one rebelled and was completely destroyed. as a punishment to all districts the government takes one male and one female from each district. They make all 24 people fight to the death for entertainment. Suzanne’s books follow our protagonist Katniss Everdeen a worker from the coal district. Katniss provides for her sister and mother by hunting in the nearby forest. she lives a peaceful life teaching her sister how to survive; that is until Katniss’s sister is picked for the hunger games. Katniss refuses to send her sister to her death and volunteers herself to save Prim. The settlement respects her sacrifice and allows it. Katniss then spends the next two weeks preparing for the games. She uses the forest to her advantage and gets help from some unlikely allies. Inevitably Katniss loses all of those who helped her and takes out all but two competitors, one is the boy she had a crush on, and the other is a boy who has trained his entire life for this moment. They end up killing the third boy, and Katniss doesn’t want to kill and neither does the boy. In one final act of rebellion they both decide to take poison berries so that there is no winner. The government decides to give them the win to placate the districts. and Katniss becomes a celebrity and a symbol of hope to all of the settlers. This book tells us much about how wit and perseverance can lead to even the greatest change. what ultimately gave her the win was not the death of another, but the willingness to end it all so that no one can win. Suzanne Collins is one of the most successful writers of our time , and continues to inspire young readers everywhere.

The Mind of Nathan Hale

This week I read a book called One Dead Spy by a man named Nathan Hale, coincidentally the book is about a spy during the revolutionary war named Nathan Hale. The Author Nathan Hale has written an entire graphic novel series based on the history of the world with books like the Big Bad Ironclad which talks about the first metal ships used in war, or the Raid of No Returns which talks about the various bombing raids throughout history. Some of his further works like Alamo All Stars talks about the battle in the Alamo, or Treaties, Trenches, Mud and Blood which talks about trench warfare during World war two. One of his more abstract books is Called Donner Dinner Pass. this book talks about a mountain pass and its history. There was a group of 81 who was traveling through a mountain pass during the winter in Nevada they got stranded in the snow and out of options; they resorted to cannibalism. out of the 81 people only 45 walked out alive. Over half of the survivors resorted to cannibalism. the rest ate leather and bones and tree bark in a soup. These books are intriguing and captivate readers to learn about history. These books are phenomenal for classes in a junior high setting and are definite read.
